Activities

Current activities:

  • Monthly neighborhood cleanups -Join us the third Saturday of every month, year round, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., weather permitting. We meet in the parking lot @ 2901 North Ave(Library) or on street parking. Check our Facebook ,Meetup (posted as “Brookland Park Community Cleanup” in RVA Clean City Sweep) or CF Engage (formally Hands on Greater Richmond) for announcements of upcoming cleanups!

  • Historic plaque program – on pause however we have two new volunteers that will be picking up the program sometime in 2026.

  • “Honey Do Crew” HDC Has been busy this year. Rebuilding steps, power washing and painting neighbors porch’s and doing yard cleanups for senior neighbors. Our crew also installed a new dog poopie bag station at the North Avenue Public Library.

  • Brookland Park Blvd annual Block Party. Was held on Sunday November 9,2025 from 1-5 PM. We had our canopied tent pitched and several tables were set up at Jeffrey Cuts 4U at 23 W. Brookland Park Blvd. During this event we held a Food and Donation drive on behalf of the St. Thomas Food Pantry and Wellness located at 3602 Hawthorne Avenue. We collected a substantial amount of private donations and many bags of non perishable groceries which were delivered in the days shortly thereafter.
  • Annual Membership Drive – Held during the Brookland Park Festival. Our very first drive we received 18 applications for membership and welcomed 5 new members to our civic association.
  • C.E.R.T. Certifications received from four of our members who attended the Citizen Early Response Team held at the Richmond Ambulatory Center.

  • Seed Library now located in the North Avenue Public Library. Small bags are available for packaging up your very dried seeds.

  • Doggie Poopie Station was installed by members in early 2025. We take turns making certain that the unit keeps bags readily available.
